Lighting Up Bunkhouses in Tacloban Starts

Wednesday, 14 May 2014

Liter of Light Philippines is now in Tacloban with volunteers from Gawad Kalinga (GK). GK host an annual gathering for volunteers and this year it is the GK Bayani (“hero”) Challenge: Walang Iwanan (Tagalog for “No one gets left behind”). The Bayani Challenge is the biggest gathering of volunteers in the #Philippines. Its objective is to build relationships and to raise resources and results for the poor that can only be achieved by working together.

Volunteers for the challenge under the Liter of Light team brought solar lights for pedestrians and houses in the Abucay village, one of the areas in Tacloban. An estimate of 170 Bunkhouse Lights and 50 Streetlights are expected to be Lit by the Liter of Light team in Tacloban.

We would like to thank the volunteers from Liter of Light Team Philippines and TESDA!

Most importantly, we would like to thank Pepsi! Without them we couldn’t possibly provide these amount of lights in Tacloban.

We hope for your continuous support!
