Lighting Up of Abucay Village in Tacloban – Finished!

Friday, 16 May 2014

It’s been six months since category five typhoon Haiyan hit the central Philippines and with it the main electric grid of many areas, not only destroying housing, but also the connection to power for millions of people. Sadly, in many of these areas, power has not yet been restored.

The Liter of Light team, headed by Illac Diaz, is now in Tacloban and has finished installing 170 bunkhouse (makeshift home) lights and 50 street lights.

Thank you Pepsi Philippines, for supporting this livelihood project, and Margarita Gutierrez, coordinator for Liter of Light Tacloban, for shipping the lights, coordinating with the agencies involved and organizing a schedule for installation.

Help us continue to give light and improve the situation for the people over here in Tacloban. Your contributions will go a long way in rebuilding these Haiyan-hit areas. Click here to donate:

Thank you very much!
