Liter of Light
Sika Supports Liter of Light
Liter of Light: That’s bringing light to homes in underprivileged areas with recycled plastic bottles. Sometimes small things do make a big difference. In this case, all you need is an old plastic bottle, water, some bleach, and sunlight. The result: Millions of huts in slums gain access to light, without having to use expensive or unsafe electricity.
Ecologically and Economically Sustainable Source of Light
The Liter of Light project aims to provide an ecologically and economically sustainable source of light to underprivileged households that do not have access to electricity or simply cannot afford electricity. The source of light is astonishingly simple and consists only of a plastic bottle filled with water and bleach.
Light to Reduce the Carbon Dioxide Footprint
Tightly sealed the bottle gets glued into the roof of a house. The solar bottle harnesses the light from the sun, capturing and diffracting the light to all parts of the room, shining as bright as a 55 watt bulb. The easy installation requires only simple technology and accessible & affordable materials. The impact of such a solar bottle goes beyond the immediate benefit of providing light. It is the start of a better-quality life for many families, creating new working opportunities, and it will reduce the carbon dioxide footprint along the way.
